EPILOGUE BY HOLO
As the days grew warmer and warmer, my belly grew rounder and rounder with Roe's cubs.
I had not been too old.
Otto and his family paid frequent visits to our den, since I didn't do much being out and about during the pregnancy. Cheecha couldn't wait for them to arrive so she'd have playmates.
Roe would bring back food for me proudly.
It was a balmy, full Summer night when the pups began to arrive.
Roe wanted to come into the den with me, but I warned him to wait until the birthing was done. It was a thing that she-wolves had to do on their own.
By the time I was done, we had four new cubs.
There was a full white cub
CHAPTER 19 BY HOLO
We began our walk back to the River Wilde, where Otto's den was, where we first met.
As we went, signs of new life were everywhere.
It was beautiful.
The nights would find Roe and I going off alone together to mate, though we made a habit of not leaving Otto on his own ALL night.
I was unbound from the Woods, free to roam.
Roe and I decided to simply make a territory from our Woods to another, so we could still roam to other places, while still having a part of the Woods as our own.
After all that happened, our hearts would always reside in the Woods.
Our territory would include Otto's den, so he and his family woul
CHAPTER 18 BY HOLO
The star wolves, my mother and father, we're so immense they were both in the sky and on the earth.
They lowered their heads to me and nudged me with their noses.
"Oh, our daughter." My mother began with a voice like a gentle summer wind. "You have saved these Woods and allowed us to come down to you. We had wanted to before, so badly, but the protection we put over the Woods, which you are a part of, would only allow flesh and blood creatures to enter, but we neglected to insure that HUMAN flesh and blood creatures could not enter. These Woods were meant to be a haven from humans. Now, the Woods no longer needs the prot
CHAPTER 14 BY HOLO
"How much longer till we get to the heart of the Woods, d'you think?" Roe asked.
"It has been such a long time since I've come this way...two, maybe three days more?"
"Memory starting to slip from old age, dear?"
I snapped at him, but only in a playful way.
"You are just jealous because you are a child and have no grand memories such as mine."
"Yes, that's it."
"I will turn into my two tailed form and eat you in one bite, so perhaps you should take care with how you speak to me."
"Yes ma'am."
"That's a good boy."
I slid my tail under his chin and chuckled.
"Females." He grumbled, which only made me laugh more.
"
CHAPTER 13 BY HOLO
Before I could really teach Roe to "whisper"-which was the common term wolves used for the mind link-I had to let our courtship progress, so the bond between us would grow stronger, thus making the initial link easier.
I had to admit, I rather enjoyed his attention, which was a new experience for me. Despite my loneliness, I wouldn't have known what to do with the courting of any other male.
He would bow to me and rub his body along mine when standing, lay his paws over my neck when we were laying, and we'd both nibble and mouth each other's ears and snouts.
It was a very happy experience, not only for us, but also for
